ECO CELLULOSE PROJECT
What is the Eco Cellulose Project?
The Eco Cellulose project is the first of 3 projects in our bid to reduce waste. The Eco Cellulose is both recycled and recyclable, with this project we make sure your bags are properly disposed of, creating minimum waste.
How does it work?
Once youβre ready to part with your L&E Cellulose Bag, you can either recycle it yourself or send it to us and weβll do it for you.
How do I recycle?
Remove: all metals, reinforcing parts and threads from the bag using pliers, scissors and an un-picker (see video). Dispose of the cellulose in your cardboard recycling. You can send the metals and reinforcements to us for proper disposal click here for address. Dispose of threads in your general waste.
Please note, lined bags are more difficult to break apart and recycle. Please feel free to send those directly to us.
Which one is recyclable?
The easiest ones to recycle are the baskets with only the thread to be removed - Becca, Poppy S, AL

What are the benefits?
Reducing waste and recycling are effective ways to decrease the generation of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane. They achieve these benefits in two ways:
1. by helping save energy in the processing of materials for industrial and consumer use, and
2. by reducing the flow of materials, into landfills where anaerobic decomposition produces methane.
Every time a new product is made from raw materials, large amounts of energy are consumed.
We can think of the role energy plays in the four stages of product development: extraction of raw materials, the manufacture of these materials into products, product use by consumers and product disposal.
In most cases, recycling uses less energy, which translates into fewer fossil fuels burned and reduced emissions of greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change.
Recycled products take on average 70% less resources to produce.
